Scottsland includes a range of fun activities with the opportunity to learn more about Sir Walter Scott and other literary figures influenced by the Trossachs, as well as the wider cultural and natural heritage of the area.
The activities include talks about Ruskin, cruising on the Sir Walter Scott steamship and learning about how he was inspired by the area, open air story telling in Callander’s main square and finding out about the history of Loch Katrine’s water supply in Aberfoyle visitor information centre.
The Scottsland programme also includes projects working with local schools. On 26 May, National Park Headquarters in Balloch played host to a Scottsland Debate around the motion “Sir Walter Scott was the greatest Scot.”. High Schools in and around the Park took part and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Mike Russell, chaired the debate.
