Welcome to ScottsLand
During summer 2010, ScottsLand’s programme of 44 events celebrated all that’s best about the Trossach's natural and cultural heritage through the celebration of the bicentenary of Sir Walter Scott’s publication Lady of the Lake. Whether you enjoy the great outdoors or exploring local history, the arts or wildlife, there was an activity or event for everyone, including a new film festival, an art & literary trail, guided walks and heritage trails, ScottsLand cruises, candlelit recitals, exhibitions, storytelling, musical evenings, and even a chase of the elusive spirit stag in a duathlon and family fun challenge The Chase. Â
Lady of the Lake marked the pinnacle of Scott’s popularity as a poet, and first established the Trossachs region as a top destination for tourists. 200 years on and the Trossachs welcomes you to walk in the footsteps of Sir Walter Scott, explore his writings and extraordinary influence on our rich cultural heritage, to see our wildlife or simply enjoy the wonderful landscape which has inspired great artists, musicians and writers for generations.
